At Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, healing comes in many forms. For patients and families in the Child Life Zone, healing now comes with a soundtrack thanks to a recent jukebox installation from Angelina’s Song.

This musical gift isn’t just a new gadget in the hospital, it’s a lifeline of normalcy and emotional release for kids facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

“We were so excited to learn that our Child Life Zone at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital would be receiving a jukebox from Angelina’s Song! We knew this addition to our hospital would be loved and adored by our patients and families,” said Lauren Hill, Child Life Zone Coordinator at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Music as Medicine

Joe DiMaggio’s Child Life Program supports children and families coping with illness, trauma, and medical procedures, and music has become a vital part of that care. Hill explains:

“Music is important in the hospital setting because it brings a sense of comfort and normalcy to our patients and families,” Hill said.

One patient, a fan of Imagine Dragons, found new motivation to leave his hospital room just to hear his favorite songs, an inspiring example of how music helps foster joy and courage.

“Patients get so excited when seeing the jukebox, especially when they find out they can pick a song!” Hill shared. “Music plays a huge role in the healing process by reducing stress, allowing for self-expression, and helping to distract them from difficult medical experiences.”

Powered by a Jukebox Hero

Behind every Angelina’s Song jukebox installation is a Jukebox Hero, an amusement operator who helps bring these musical moments to life. For this installation, that hero was Paramount Vending in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jeff Passman, managing partner of Paramount Vending in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

“We were approached by Tara Spence, a board member of Angelina’s Song,” said Jeff Passman, Managing Partner of Paramount Vending. “We were immediately drawn to their mission.”

The Miniaci family, founders of Paramount Vending, have long been involved in philanthropy, and supporting children through music fit perfectly with their values.

“It means everything if what part we played can make a family or child smile for just a moment during their stay at the hospital,” Passman added. “It is such a small part compared to the amount of work the staff at Joe DiMaggio’s do on a daily basis.”

A Symphony of Support

Angelina’s Song provides TouchTunes-powered jukeboxes on freeplay to children’s hospitals across the country. Each unit is powered by Wireless ATM and installed with the help of local partners like Paramount Vending. But the heart of the program lies in the mission to bring joy, comfort, and healing through music.

“Every jukebox we install is more than a machine, it’s a memory-maker, a stress reliever, a moment of joy,” said Nicole Miele, President and Founder of Angelina’s Song. “Seeing it light up a hospital space and hearing stories like the one from Joe DiMaggio’s reminds us why we started this in the first place.”

The team at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital agrees.

“We are so incredibly grateful for our partnership with Paramount Vending and Angelina’s Song. This addition to our space has brought so much love, comfort, and joy!”
